THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NORTHERN THAI TRADITIONAL MUSIC INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES BASED ON 4 MAT MODEL FOR MATAYOMSUKSA 5 STUDENTS OF LOBURI COLLEGE OF DRAMATIC ARTS

Abstract

The purposes of this research were : 1) to develop the northern thai traditional music instructional activities based on 4 MAT Model for Matayom Suksa 5 Students, 2) to compare the northern thai traditional music learning achievement of the students learned through the instructional activities based on 4 MAT Model, 3) to study the students’ attitude towards english instruction after using the activities based on 4 MAT model. The target group consisted of 22 Matayom Suksa 5 Students of Lopburi College of Dramatic Arts, under the Buditpatanasilpa Institute in the second semester of academic year 2019, which was obtained from the cluster random sampling using the classroom lottery drawing as a random unit. The instruments used were the northern thai traditional music learning plan based on 4 MAT Model, The northern thai traditional music achievement test and a survey form for the students’ attitude towards the northern thai traditional music instruction. The one-group pre-posttest design was utilized in this study. The collected data were analyzed by means of arithmetic means, percentage, standard deviation and dependent t-test.


            The results of the research were :


  1. The northern thai traditional music instructional activities based on 4 MAT Model on the title 4 Stringed Sueng consisted of 3 units; 1) What’s Sueng and Saloe Band for 2 hours 2) 4 Stringed Sueng for 8 hours and 3) The northern thai traditional songs for 8 hours. There were 8 steps of activities based on 4 Mat Model; 1) creating an experience 2) reflecting on experience 3) integrating observations into concepts 4) developing theories and concepts 5) working on defined concepts 6) messing around 7) analyzing for usefulness or application and 8) doing it themselves and sharing what they do with others.

  2. The post-test average scores of northern thai traditional music learning achievement of the students learned through the activities based on 4 MAT Model were higher than those of their pre-test at .01 level of significance.

3. The average scores of attitude towards northern thai traditional music instruction of the students learned through the activities based on 4 MAT Model were high level.
