ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION EXERCISES OF THE MURDOCH INTEGRATED APPROACH WITH EMPHASIS ON ASEAN CONTENT

Abstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to develop English reading comprehension exercises of the Murdoch Integrated Approach with emphasis on ASEAN content to meet the efficiency criterion of 75/75, 2) to compare the ability in English reading comprehension of the Murdoch Integrated Approach of Mathayomsuksa 3 students before and after using English reading comprehension exercises with emphasis on ASEAN content in SamutSakhonWitthayalai School, and 3) to study the satisfaction of Mathayomsuksa 3 students regarding the English reading comprehension exercises of the Murdoch Integrated Approach with emphasis on ASEAN content. The population were 505 Mathayomsuksa 3 students studying during the first semester of the academic year 2015 at SamutSakhonWitthayalai School, Office of Educational Service Area 10. The sample consisted of 50 Mathayomsuksa 3/8 students in the first semester of the academic year 2015 which derived from simple random sampling by classroom lottery.The instruments of this research were ; English reading comprehension exercise of Murdoch's 6 plans, English language reading ability test, 4 multiple choice questions, before and after study, 40 items. The assessment form for the appropriateness of the English reading practice test by 9 items and a questionnaire for the satisfaction of students towards learning, amount 10 items. The statistics used in this study were the mean () and standard deviation (S.D.) and t-test for Dependent.
The research finding were as follows :
- English reading comprehension exercises of the Murdoch Integrated Approach, The overall efficiency was 80.60/79.30, which was 75/75 higher than the set performance criteria.
- Academic achievement after using the English reading comprehension exercises of the Murdoch Integrated Approach was higher than before using English reading comprehension exercises with statistically significant at .05 level.
- The level of students' satisfaction with English reading comprehension exercises was average of 3.90, The standard deviation was equal to 0.45. Overall, the students were satisfied with the high level.
