DEVELOPMENT OF COMPREHENSIVE READING SKILL PACKAGE USING SQ4R METHOD together with MIND MAPPING TECHNIQUE FOR PRATHOMSUKSA 3 STUDENTS

Abstract

The objectives of this study were : 1) to develop comprehensive reading skill package using SQ4R method together with mind mapping technique to be effective according to criteria of 80/80; 2) to compare the achievements in comprehensive reading of learners who studied with comprehensive reading skill package using the SQ4R learning method together with mind mapping for Pratomsuksa 3 students before and after learning management; and 3) to study the attitudes of the students towards learning with comprehensive reading skill package using SQ4R method together with mind mapping technique. The population was 30 of Pratomsuksa 3 students in semester 1 of academic 2021 at Watnaiklang School, Phetchaburi Province, Phetchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, which were selected by the purposive sampling method. The research instruments were (1) comprehensive reading skill package using SQ4R method together with mind mapping technique for Pratomsuksa 3 students, (2) comprehensive reading management plans using SQ4R method together with mind mapping technique for Pratomsuksa 3 students, (3) comprehensive reading achievement test, It was a multiple-choice test with a confidence value of 0.89; and (4) attitude test towards the learning with comprehensive reading skill packages using SQ4R method together with mind mapping technique for Pratomsuksa 3 students. Statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and dependent t-test.

The results of the study found that :

1. The efficiencies of the developed comprehensive reading skill package was effective according to the criteria with the efficiency value 84.37/87.78.

2. The comparative results of the achievements in comprehensive reading of the learners who studied with comprehensive reading skill package was higher than before learning at statistical significance at the .05 level.

3. The overall attitudes of Pratomsuksa 3 students towards the learning using comprehensive reading skill package using the SQ4R learning method together with mind mapping were in a high level(μ= 4.28, σ = 0.20).
