DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS AND TEACHER NETWORKS FOR CREATING SAFE AND CREATIVE MEDIA PROMOTING PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AFFECTED BY THE RECENT SURGE OF VIOLENCE IN THE SOUTHERNMOST PROVINCES OF THAILAND
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research aims to 1) investigate the communication skills challenges faced by teachers in the southern border provinces, 2) develop communication skills and create safe and creative media to promote psychological healing for children and youth in schools affected by the new wave of violence in the southernmost provinces of Thailand and 3) establish a teacher network for disseminating safe and creative media in the southern border provinces online, serving as a central platform to support educational communities for peace and happiness. The target groups include school managers/directors, teachers, and student councils. The research methodology involves data collection through document synthesis, in-depth interviews, group discussions, and questionnaires, and statistical analysis will use Frequency, Percentage, and Mean values.
The study findings reveal that :
1) In terms of communication and media creation for psychological healing, teachers were unable to create compelling experiences for students to remember various events. Most schools primarily used religious teachings to explain and comfort students in the face of challenging situations.
2) After the development of communication skills and media production, teachers showed an improvement, with an average score increasing from 3.61 (S.D. = 0.87) before development to 3.79 (S.D. = 0.72) after development. This indicates that the skills and teacher network development in creating safe and creative media contributed to enhancing necessary communication skills for teachers, media production skills, and the teacher network for disseminating safe and creative media online for teachers in schools affected by the situation, aligning with the research hypotheses.
3)Teachers and schools demonstrated good readiness for implementation. However, the management systems of each school, constrained by limitations, may lead to less smooth implementation. The success of network creation depends on the educational support model in schools, emphasizing exchange, mentoring, and coaching, leading to the benefits of creating a teacher network in terms of life skills, positive thinking, and having good counselors and listeners.
