“Press” the Right Choice, your voice is meaningful: A Voting Machine in the Local Elections.

Abstract

     Nowadays, the vision of Thailand is to pursue the national growth with innovation under the slogan “Thailand 4.0,” and one of the key factors for growth is to improve and strengthen democracy. This article is a study of the draft bill on
Election of Local Council Members and Local Administrators (No. …) B.E. …… aiming to explore democratic progress at the local administration level is consistent with the direction of innovation-based national growth. It was found that the act was based on the key concept of voting machines and online campaigns. Unfortunately,when the Election of Local Council or Local Administrators Act, B.E. 2562 [2019],was announced, neither voting machines nor online campaigns were mentioned.However, the use of e-voting in the local context represents a big change in Thailand’s local elections to pursue national growth through innovation and novel technology. Apparently, this change happens with supportive laws and is consistent with the rule of the legal state in a democratic society.
