THE ANALYSIS OF FLOOD PROBLEM AND RECOMMENDATIONS TOWARDS RISK MANAGEMENT: A CASE STUDY OF THE LOCAL BOAT-TOUR OPERATOR AT CHANKASEM-PALACE COMMUNITY IN PHRA NAKHON SI AYAUTTAYA PROVINCE

Abstract

The main problem of Chankasem-Palace community was the flood problem which had an impact on the local boa-tour operators’ living. This motivated the researcher to explore the analysis of flood problem and their solutions proposing to those operators in form of a case study. The findings showed that flood has been a regular problem in Chankasem-Palace community. When flooding, the boat-tour operators had to temporarily stop ferrying tourists to the local sites. Moreover, the length of stop usually depended on the volume of flood. According to the problem, some recommendations were proposed as follows: First of all, a preparational plan for disaster based on the local’s Tactic knowledge should be accomplished. Secondly, communicational skills and cross-cultural translation aiming to convey the awareness and readiness of natural disaster to foreigners should be planned.
