ACTIVITIES FOR ENHANCING LEARNING SKILLS AND DEVELOPING LEARNING INNOVATIONS TOWARDS “A MODEL OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOL”: SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE SPATIAL EXPERIENCE FROM BAN SAI THONG SCHOOL, SA KAEO PROVINCE

Abstract

Ban Sai Thong School, Sa Kaeo Province, has proposed its desirable identity, namely, 'a model of vocational school'. The school’s context has been surrounded by natural capital that facilitates learners to use their local wisdom. In addition, there have been local scholars who are expert in agriculture and various occupations related to the community context. Therefore, the procedures for elevating the school’s educational quality were based on learning activities for enhancing learning skills and developing learning innovations related to vocation. Those learning activities employed the conceptual framework emphasizing on the following three activities:  Firstly, compiling knowledge and vocational skills, secondly, organizing workshops for developing vocational skills and thirdly, providing basic knowledge about product design. To obtain the desirable identity, learning activities were instructed via the Learning Area of Occupations and Technology. Learners were engaged with the various active-learning activities, namely GPAAS 5 STEPS’s concept. They also employed Teacher Tool Kits (TTK) as their learning tools to help create a prototype of learning innovation appropriately. Additionally, the learning procedures have been depended on community involvement and social capital.
