PEOPLE’S PARTICIPATION IN MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL TOURISM IN NONG BON SUBDISTRICT, MUEANG DISTRICT, SA KAEO PROVINCE

Abstract

This research on People’s Participation in Management of Cultural Tourism in Nong-Bon Subdistrict, Muang District, Sa Kaeo Province aimed at studying community context related to cultural tourism pathway of Nong-Bon Subdistrict, Muang District, Sa Kaeo Province and developing suitable tourism pathway for Nong-Bon Subdistrict, Muang District, Sa Kaeo Province. Research result depicted that community context was compatible and had potential for the development suitable pathway and there was an agreement among local people in the development of community tourism that can lead to the development of solid cultural tourism pathway. The other reason that made Nong-bon Subdistrict ready for cultural tourism was the absence of industry in this area. People in this community cooperated and joined needed operations and management of ecological rafting for tourists in Klonghuayyai, but there was lack of meaningful supports from public sectors and related authority, there were problems that caused slow landscape development, and a lot of attractions still cannot catch tourists’ attentions due to lack of promotion to wider group of people. In addition, there are not enough readiness in landscape and places development due to the developing of attractions entrance, market, and raft pier and overflow weir at present and there is no clear development plan. This research suggest that there should be development of infrastructure and services that support tourists (i.e. commuting road to tourism attractions, ecological pathway, accommodations, foods and drinks, development area around tourism attractions to serve tourists) from public sectors and related authorities.
