Positive Psychology Intervention in patients with Schizophrenia

Abstract

Schizophrenia is considered as a severe mental illness. Patients with schizophrenia live without a good quality of life. A typical treatment of schizophrenia are likely focused on pathology; for instance, pharmacotherapy and traditional psychotherapy which focused on symptom treatment. Positive Psychology Intervention (PPI) is practical guidelines based on building positive emotions, hope, create optimistic, and finding the strengths. It aims to create happiness, promote well-being which leads to symptom reduction. The purpose of this article was to present the concepts of positive psychology and the application of positive psychology intervention for support schizophrenia patients.
