THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH SPELLING WRITING SKILLS BY USING GAME FOR THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS (PRATHOMSUKSA 5)

Abstract

     The purposes of this research were: 1. develop the game to improve English spelling writing skills for Prathomsuksa 5 students to meet the efficiency criterion (E1/E2) at 75/75 and 2. evaluate the game to improve English spelling writing skills for Prathomsuksa 5 students in the topics of; 2.1) English spelling writing skills of students before and after attending this program, and 2.2) investigate the students’ satisfaction towards on the game. The samples applying purposive sampling consisted of 15 Prathomsuksa 5 students at Phongam School, 1 class, in 2019 academic year. The research instruments consisted of 1. the game to improve English spelling writing skills for Prathomsuksa 5 students, 2 the evaluation of English speaking skills before and after attending this program and, 3 investigate the students’ satisfaction towards on the game to improve English spelling writing skills for Prathomsuksa 5 students. The research was conducted in 18 hours (2 hours a week) for 9 weeks. The mean, standard deviation, and t - test (Dependent Sample) were applied to analyze the data.

            The findings were as follows:

1. The game to improve English spelling writing skills for Prathomsuksa 5 students attained the efficiency criterion at 75.80/75.23, which was higher than the established requirement of 75/75.


2. the mean of English spelling writing skills posttest scores is higher than the mean of English speaking skills pretest scores in the level of 3.57.


3. the samples showed the highest satisfaction level towards the game to improve English spelling writing skills for Prathomsuksa 5 students.
