A STUDY OF FINE ARTS: THE METAL EMBOSSING TECHNIQUE AND ITS PERFORMANCE IN PRESENTING CONTEMPORARY ART

Abstract

              This research article aimed to study and analyze artistic work, specifically focusing on the metal embossing technique and its performance in presenting contemporary art. The objectives were outlined as follows: 1) raising questions and providing interpretations of contemporary artworks with a focus on metal materials, including shapes of stainless steel, copper, and brass through methods of studying and analyzing the creation process; 2) analyzing the process of drawing and creating traces on metal materials to convey ideas and imagination; and 3) analyzing the process of creating positive and negative space in artworks to explore the potential of metal embossing in contemporary art. The study's results indicated that the technique traditionally employed in Thai art could also be applied to creating contemporary pieces. Specifically, the research highlighted: 1) the utilization of line art drawing techniques, employing debossing and embossing methods to enhance the charm and expressiveness of the lines, thereby effectively conveying natural beauty; 2) the use of 0.3-millimeter aluminum sheets in the creation process, where debossing traces or lines created a sense of curvature in the surrounding space, resulting in distinct negative space with variations in negative space development across different pieces ranging from 1 to 5, thus becoming a distinctive feature of the artwork; and 3) the demonstration that working with metal materials, often perceived as requiring substantial energy, could be effectively executed by a female artist through dedication and effort. This enhanced the audience's appreciation of the meticulous beauty of the artwork, elevating their perception to a higher level.
