GUIDELINES FOR IMPROVING AND OVERCOMINGCHALLENGES OF DRUG-RELATED CRIME INVESTIGATION OF INVESTIGATION POLICE OFFICER IN AYUTTHAYA PROVINICIAL POLICE STATION

Abstract

This research aims to study 1) the problems and obstacles in drug suppression operations 2) develop a suitable and efficient drug suppression operation model for officers of the Investigation Division, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police to be appropriate and efficient. The sample group was select the appropriate sample size calculation formula for
a survey research study using Taro Yamane's formula at a 5% margin of error and 95% confidence level yields a sample size of 100 police officers working in drug suppression operations for officers of the Investigation Division, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police. The research uses a questionnaire with a reliability value of 0.826. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed, presenting results in percentage (%) and standard deviation (SD). The research results found that the level of knowledge and awareness of police officers in both areas of investigation, namely knowledge of laws and policies and knowledge of training operations and welfare, was at a high level overall. The research results according to the objectives are as follows: 1) Overall problems and obstacles were at a high level with average score 3.67. namely personnel/officials, budget, materials/equipment, management, and related laws/regulations, respectively. 2) Problem Solving and obstacles were at a high level with average score 3.96, namely laws/related regulations, budget, personnel/officials, materials/equipment,
and management, respectively. Therefore, the guidelines for developing the model should be: 2.1) Organize training to provide knowledge of laws and skills necessary for investigation before performing duties. 2.2) Create a plan, procedures, disbursement, or budget transparently.
2.3) Provide equipment used in investigation duties sufficiently. 2.4) Create welfare and compensation for officers’ performance on par with other agencies with similar characteristics. 2.5) Create a manual of laws related to operations that is clear and easy to understand.
