Abstract

This research article aimed to study the level of e-government development in various countries, examine the level of democracy in different countries, and investigate the impact of e-government development on the democracy of those countries. The study employed a quantitative approach using secondary data collected by international organizations. The researcher applied regression analysis with stepwise variable selection to determine which components of e-government development influenced democracy. The findings revealed that electronic participation (e-participation) and human capital development could explain 47% of the variance in democracy levels (R² = 0.47). The regression coefficient for electronic participation was 3.128, while the coefficient for human capital development was 3.306. The result from this research revealed that the development of E-government was not only beneficial to public sector administration and service delivery, but also beneficial to strengthening democracy of that country.
