Abstract

Although several studies have extensively reviewed innovative behavior in the workplace, the review focused on the nexus between leadership styles and innovative behavior is underdeveloped. The present study has a novel by systematically reviewing prior research on leadership styles and employees' innovative behavior. The data were collected using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A quantitative systematic literature review using a bibliometric approach was performed to analyze 184 articles from 85 journals. Results reveal the development of articles on the topics significantly increased from 2021 to 2022. We suggest the domination of Asian scholars and countries in the topics. The current review classifies the major topics into seven clusters, containing several hot terms, especially servant leadership, creative self-efficacy, work engagement, transformational leadership, ethical leadership, and knowledge sharing. This study contributes to the literature on behavioral sciences by mapping key studies and topics on the relationship between leadership styles and innovative behavior. Moreover, our results assist future researchers by providing potential key topics in the issue.
