Directions for Active Learning research in Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
Active Learning is not a recently conceived idea or technique but rather an evolving learning management with diverse learning formats. Its implementation depends on objectives and the nature of the subject, determining when in the teaching process Active Learning can be employed. This research is a qualitative study that involves the collection and analysis of data. The researchers are particularly interested in studying Active Learning in Thailand, specifically at higher education, between the year 2012 and 2022. The research team collected data from research articles available in the journal database of Thailand (Thai Journals Online (ThaiJo)), totaling 139 articles. Three main focal issues emerged from the findings: learner-related, instructional management, and instructor-related. The research results revealed that the studies related to Active Learning in institutions of education had been relatively limited between the year 2013 and 2016 compared to 2017 onwards. Moreover, there is a notable scarcity of research on the instructor-related aspect. This research explores the directions of Active Learning research in Thailand at higher education. The findings serve as a potential guideline to inform educators and institutions about current trends in Active Learning. This information can be instrumental in shaping future teaching practices to empower learners for the challenges of the 21st century.
