Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to examine 1) the cross-border education management policies of Border Patrol Police Banchoppan Banpakla School, 2) the teaching and learning approaches for Laotian students at Border Patrol Police Banchoppan Banpakla School, and 3) the expectations of the parents of Laotian students enrolled at Border Patrol Police Banchoppan Banpakla School. This research is a qualitative study. The target groups in the research include parents of Laotian students, teachers, administrators, and educational personnel, totaling 25 people. The research instruments used were observation records, interviews, and Focus group discussion guide. The research findings revealed that 1) cross-border education policies are consistent at three levels: international, national, and organizational levels. 2) Guidelines for cross-border education management for Laotian students: The school uses the same curriculum as for Thai students and ensures equality in educational rights through the G-Code identification system. Supplementary activities are organized to prepare students in the Thai language and social skills. 3) Expectations of parents of Laotian students: Sending their children to study at schools in Thailand helps increase opportunities to enter the labor market and improve the family’s economic status, while simultaneously maintaining cross-border kinship networks for future generations of students. Moreover, another aim is for children to accumulate skills in the Thai language, English, and technology for future careers in Thailand.
