Factors Affecting Public Decisions in General Elections in Mueang District, Chumphon Province

Abstract

Objectives of this research were: 1. To study factors, 2. To compare factors affecting public decisions in general elections, and 3. To study recommendations and guidelines to support public decisions in general elections, Chumphon Province. Methodology was the mixed methods: The quantitative research collected data with questionnaires from 399 samples people in Mueang District, Chumphon province, Statistics used to analyze data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, SD. The qualitative research collected data from 11 key informants by in-depth-interviewing, analyzed data by descriptive interpretation. Findings of the research were as follows:

1. Factors affecting public decisions in general elections, Mueang District Chumphon Province was at a high level. as follows: the right to vote, Association membership Political organization were at a high level. criticism of the conduct of political parties Moderate was at a moderate level. Support for political parties was low.
2. The comparison results showed that People with different gender, there was opinions on public decisions in general elections of the people in Mueang District, Chumphon Province, differed statistically significant at the level of 0.05, As for people with different age, education, occupations and income There are no different.
3. Problems and recommendations on Factors affecting decision-making of people of the people in Mueang District, Chumphon Province. as follows. People understand the right and duty in elections, political news is followed. But providing news and political news causes stress. People generally do not joining a political party. but there are criticisms of politics. Government agencies should provide a public forum for candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities. For the public to consider, and publicize to follow up the performance after the election.
