Thai Political Culture and Majority Rule

Abstract

This research paper is part of the research paper. The objectives of this research were to 1) study the degree of attitudes towards democracy on the majority rule and 2) study the attitudes towards the majority rule in democracy regime of people in the Eastern region. By using mixed method research, research methodology were survey research and qualitative research. In the field research, data were collected from 400 sample population from Chonburi, Rayong and Sa Kaeo provinces. In terms of the qualitative research, documentary research and interview sample population were collected along with the quantitative data collection by using the questionnaire questions. The results showed that 1) the sample population had a high level of attitudes towards democracy in the majority rule. This reflected the consistency of political culture and democracy, and 2) the sample population understand the importance of majority rule and minority right because public interest is the most important.
