The Effect Of Interprofessional Education Through Family Study On Professional Competency

This study is a quasi-experimental research with a one-group, pre-post test design. The study objective was to study the effect of interprofessional education among nursing students in the Bachelor of Nursing program, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi and medicine students at the medical center of Saraburi hospital, Thammasat University and to compare the level of multidisciplinary competence before and after the interprofessional education. The sample group were nursing students in the Bachelor of Nursing program, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi and medicine students at the medical center of Saraburi hospital, Thammasat University. The samples consisted of 38 subjects. Data were collected by using a professional competency assessment form, which were validated by 3 experts and tested for the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of .85. Data were collected between 1 December 2019 and 30 May 2020. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and the paired t-test
The results showed that the students had a high level of professional competence after the IPE in all 5 areas, and they had a higher level of professional competence after the IPE than before the IPE, with statistical difference at the level of .000.
Suggestions: Interprofessional education should be provided for nursing students to learn and work with other health professions such as physiotherapist, pharmacist, Thai traditional medicine.
