COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT OF COMMON-POOL RESOURCES ACCORDING TO THE PHILOSOPHY OF SUFFICIENCY ECONOMY: A CASE STUDY OF COMMUNITY IN TRAT PROVINCE

            This research article is part of the study titled Community Management of Common-pool Resources According to the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy: A Case Study of Community in Trat Province. The aimed to study characteristics of community common-pool resource management according to the philosophy of sufficiency economy and Elinor Ostrom’s principles for sustainable governance of common-pool resources. The research was methodology on the basis of interdisciplinary qualitative research design. A case of Ban Pred Nai community in Huang Nam Khao sub-district, Mueang district, Trad province was selected. Data were collected using an in-depth interview, group interview, and obtained from documents. The study results found that the common-pool resource management according to the sufficiency economy philosophy of Ban Pred Nai community and Elinor Ostrom’s principles for sustainable governance of common-pool resources shared similar characteristics in terms of accepting villagers to utilize resources under the conditions of common-pool resource government. Meanwhile, there must be the system for conservation and restoration, support of community self-management including network operations inside and outside the community. The common goal is sustainable development in three dimensions, namely, economy, society, and environment.
