Universal Ethics of Non-Religious People: Principles and Social Pathways

Abstract

This article examines the ethics of non-religious individuals as global citizens, with the aim of analyzing how morality can be sustained and guide social coexistence in modern society without relying on religious belief systems. The study finds that non-religious individuals develop ethical principles grounded in reason, compassion, human rights, and the inherent dignity of the human person. These foundations correspond to universal ethical principles that promote equality, responsibility, and respect for others. The article argues that the ethics of the non-religious does not constitute a rejection of morality; rather, it represents an effort to seek value foundations that are religiously neutral and open to diversity of belief. In the context of multicultural societies, fostering spaces for dialogue between religious and non-religious individuals is therefore a crucial mechanism for building mutual understanding, cooperation, and social development based on shared universal ethics.
