Abstract

This research article aimed to 1) examine the level of financial management behavior among residents in Ratchathewi District, Bangkok, and 2) compare financial management behavior among residents in Ratchathewi District, Bangkok, according to personal factors. This study employed a quantitative research design. The sample consisted of 398 residents of Ratchathewi District, Bangkok, selected through multistage sampling, comprising proportionate stratified sampling and simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA). The findings revealed that: 1) the overall financial management behavior of residents in Ratchathewi District, Bangkok, was at the highest level ( x̅ = 4.50, S.D. = 0.68). When considering each dimension, income and expenditure planning, saving and investment, debt management, and risk management were all at the highest level. 2) The comparison of financial management behavior based on personal factors indicated that differences in age, marital status, average monthly personal income, and length of residence were significantly associated with differences in financial management behavior at the .05 level across all dimensions and overall. Educational level and occupation showed significant differences in certain dimensions and overall. In contrast, gender and residential subdistrict did not show significant differences overall, although residential subdistrict differed significantly in the income and expenditure planning dimension. These findings reflect that personal factors, including age, educational level, marital status, occupation, average monthly personal income, and length of residence, are associated with the financial management behavior of the population. Therefore, relevant organizations should promote financial knowledge and skills tailored to the characteristics and contexts of different population groups in order to enhance financial stability and sustainably improve quality of life.
