Abstract

The purpose of this quantitative research were to 1) to study the causes of problems in listening and speaking Thai in daily life of undergraduate Chinese students majoring in Thai language 2) to compare the causes of problems in listening and speaking Thai in daily life of undergraduate Chinese students majoring in Thai language. The sample of 506 undergraduate Chinese students majoring in Thai language studying in the People's Republic of China selected by W.G. Cochran's formula. Questionnaires were used as a tool for data collection. The obtained data were later analyzed and test by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, the One-Way analysis of variance: ANOVA. The result revealed there were 3 causes at moderate, knowledge and basic skills in listening and speaking Thai for communication, personal characteristics of learners and environmental education with the highest averages and results of characteristics of teachers was at low. Comparative results of the causes of problems in listening and speaking Thai in daily life, the average values of knowledge and basic skills in listening and speaking Thai for communication and the educational environment were not different. As for the personal characteristics of learners and characteristics of teachers had different average values from other cases at the significance level .05
