EFFECTS OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME USING INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract

The objective of this research was to compare the mean score of emotional intelligence before receiving the emotional intelligence enhancing program using interactive multimedia, after receiving the programs, and follow-up at four weeks. Quasi-experimental research designed was used. The participants consisted of 111 second-year nursing students of academic year 2021 received a group emotional intelligence enhancement programs using multimedia with 4 session, 60 minutes per session. The tools used to gather data include 1) The tool used in collecting data is the personal data questionnaire and the emotional intelligence questionnaire 2) The tool used in the experiment is the program using interactive multimedia on emotional intelligence which developed from the concept of emotional intelligence of the department of mental health and review of related literatures. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Repeated One way ANOVA to compare the mean score of emotional intelligence before receiving the emotional intelligence enhancing program using interactive multimedia, after receiving the programs, and follow-up at four weeks. The research found that the mean score of emotional intelligence after receiving the programs (post-test) was statistically higher than before the program trail (pre-test) (p< .05). The research found that the mean score of emotional intelligence during the 4-week follow-up period was statistically higher than before the program trail (pre-test) (p < .05). However, there was not significant in the mean score of emotional intelligence between during the 4-week follow-up period and after receiving the emotional intelligence enhancement program using interactive multimedia on emotional intelligence among nursing students.
