A STUDY AND DEVELOPMENT CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP MODEL OF FACTORS AFFECTING TO QUALITY CULTURE IN HEALTH SCIENCE EDUCATION INSTITUTE USING MIXED METHODS RESEARCH TECHNIQUES
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed 1) To develop a causal structural equation model of factors influencing quality culture in health science education institutions, and 2) To examine the goodness of fit between the developed model and empirical data. A mixed-methods research design was employed. The qualitative phase used an ethnographic research approach to identify the characteristics, components, and influencing factors of quality culture. The quantitative phase investigated the relationships among variables in the causal structural equation model. The sample consisted
of 373 academic and supporting staff members from health science education institutions. The research instrument was a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings revealed that 1) The latent variables exerting significant positive direct effects on quality culture were engagement and deeply embedded values and beliefs. Engagement also functioned as a mediating variable between quality-oriented leadership and quality culture. and 2) The developed model demonstrated good fit with the empirical data and provided important insights indicating that quality-oriented leadership serves as a critical starting point for fostering engagement, while deeply embedded values and beliefs constitute both a foundational element and an outcome that is continuously reinforced. The knowledge generated from this study can be utilized as a guideline for policy formulation, promotion, and the sustainable development of a quality culture in health science education institutions.
