APPROPRIATE AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY FOR ENHANCING COMMUNITY WELL-BEING AND QUALITY OF LIFE: A CASE STUDY OF VEGGIE TABLE TECH IN BANG KHAO SUBDISTRICT, NONG CHIK DISTRICT, PATTANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) Study the effects of the use of Veggie Table Tech innovation on the well-being and quality of life of farmers, 2) Analyze the factors that affect the outcomes of the use of such innovation, and 3) Synthesize knowledge from the research to develop a model for driving community well-being through appropriate innovation. This research used a qualitative research methodology (Qualitative Research) by designing it as a case study (Case Study) and using documentary analysis (Documentary Analysis) together with empirical data from farmers participating in the Veggie Table Tech project in Bang Khao Subdistrict, Nong Chik District, Pattani Province. The research results found that the use of such innovation had positive effects on farmers in three dimensions, namely well-being, economic, and social dimensions. It was found that it could reduce workload, increase productivity, and enhance income stability. At the same time, important factors affecting the outcomes of the use of the innovation included the design of technology that is consistent with the context of users and participatory processes that lead to collective learning in the community. In addition, the synthesis of the data led to the development of the “Appropriate Innovation for Community Well-being Model (AICW Model),” which explains the mechanism linking technology, social capital, and quality of life outcomes in a systematic way.
