GUIDELINES FOR SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT OF LAN KHOI SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY’S ELDERLY SCHOOL, PA PHAYOM DISTRICT, PHATTHALUNG PROVINCE

Abstract
This article aims to 1) Demonstrate the management model of the elderly school, and 2) Propose guidelines for the sustainable development of elderly school management by Lan Khoi Sub-district Municipality, Pa Phayom District, Phatthalung Province. This study employed a qualitative research design, gathering data from relevant documents, in-depth interviews with 49 key informants consisting of 2 academics, 15 municipal officials and staff, 13 local and community leaders, and 19 citizens and elderly representative along with 5 participatory meetings. Content analysis and data categorization were utilized to synthesize the findings and provide a comprehensive overview. The results of the study revealed that 1) The management model of the elderly school is a systematic management process focused on enhancing the quality of life for the elderly. It encompasses policy and planning formulation, organizational structuring for elderly school management, curriculum development, and monitoring and evaluation systems. and 2) The guidelines for sustainably developing the elderly school management of Lan Khoi Sub-district Municipality, Pa Phayom District, Phatthalung Province require a multi-sectoral participatory management approach to collectively determine the direction and development strategies. This involves creating a curriculum that aligns with the community's way of life, local wisdom, culture, and unique identity, thereby promoting appropriate learning within the local context. Furthermore, it is essential to establish clear action plans, mechanisms, and administrative systems, while fostering a lifelong learning society that empowers the elderly to self-develop, actively participate in social activities, and live happily. Ultimately, such multi-sectoral participatory mechanisms will lead to sustainable lifelong learning and a significantly enhanced quality of life for the elderly.
