Abstract

This study aimed to 1) Develop a database of products, ways of life, and arts and culture of the Khlong Dan riverside community; 2) Develop an augmented reality application to support experiential learning and community storytelling; and 3) Evaluate the system’s overall performance and user satisfaction. The study employed a research and development approach using an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design. Qualitative data were first collected from key informants to inform the design of the database, content, and application, followed by quantitative data collection to evaluate the developed system within the five-stage ADDIE Model. The target groups consisted of 20 key informants, 5 experts, and 40 tourists and local youth. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and task success rate. The findings revealed that: 1) The developed relational database systematically linked community stories, products, locations, and multimedia content; 2) The Khlong Dan AR Story application presented 3D models and cultural information through 10 markers, allowing users to access key information within three steps; and 3) The overall system performance was high (\bar{x} = 4.57, S.D. = 0.53). The learning dimension had the highest mean score (\bar{x} = 4.68, S.D. = 0.47), followed by content (\bar{x} = 4.62, S.D. = 0.51), usability (\bar{x} = 4.55, S.D. = 0.54), and functionality (\bar{x} = 4.41, S.D. = 0.58). The task success rate for scanning markers and retrieving information was 92.50%. Overall user satisfaction was also high (\bar{x} = 4.61, S.D. = 0.51), with the learning benefits related to community stories receiving the highest mean score (\bar{x} = 4.71, S.D. = 0.45). The findings indicate that augmented reality applications have the potential to support cultural heritage learning through experiences that connect physical places with digital information.
