Promotion of Moral and Ethical Conducts of Students in the Ecclesiastical General Schools in Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

This article aims to (1) study the measures for promotion of moral and ethical conducts of students in the ecclesiastical general schools in Khon Kaen province, (2) compare the measures for promotion of moral and ethical conducts of students to differences of their sex, position and work experiences, (3) examine suggestions for the measures for promotion of moral and ethical conducts of students. The sampling groups employed for the research comprised 168 subjects working for their schools. The research instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire, of which every question in the questionnaire had its IOC between 0.67 and 1.00, and its reliability at 0.96. Statistics for data analyses embraced: frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and F-test, comparing paired differences by Scheffe’s method. The findings revealed that educational personnel’s opinions on morale and motives for work performances at such schools in the aforesaid province have been rated at the high scales in the overall aspect, as has each of aspects taken into consideration. The entire aspects placed in their descending order are: the superior’s relationship with the subordinate, the latter’s states of working places, the latter’s incomes and fringe benefits, their physical and mental health, the former’s relationship with colleagues, and the latter’s job security and their career progression opportunity. The comparative results of hypothesis testing related to differences of subjects’ genders and educational qualifications have found no statistical significance in their morale and motives for work performances at the target schools, thereby rejecting null hypothesis; while those of their ages and work experiences have indicated otherwise. Educational personnel’s suggestions for boosting their morale and motives for work performances at such schools in the said province are that the superior should: be emotionally constant, calm and discreet, logically solve problems, widely open opportunities for personnel to use their knowledge and competency, regularly create good working relationship with the subordinate, strictly treat every colleague as valuable human resources, openly laud the subordinate’s successful undertakings, strongly boost their morale for reinforcing work performances.
