Factors Affecting the Investment Decision Making on Foreign Equity Mutual Funds of Investors in Bangkok Metropolis and Vicinity

Abstract

This research article aimed to study the factors affecting investment decision making on foreign equity mutual funds. The samples of this research consist of 410 investors who invest in mutual funds and live in Bangkok Metropolis and Vicinity. The convenience sampling method was used. The tool for data collection in this research was the questionnaire. The statistics used to analyze the data are descriptive statistics which include frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics such as t-test, One-way ANOVA and Chi-square tests. The study found that the respondents are mostly male, aged between 20-30 years old, single status with the education level of bachelor’s degree. Most of them were employees of private companies. The average monthly income was 30,001-50,000 baht and they had 1-5 years of mutual fund investment experience. The results of the study show that gender, age, status, occupation, and monthly income which are the personal factors are related to investment in foreign equity mutual funds. The effective motivation factor on the investment decision toward the foreign equity mutual fund is past performance. The important policy factor is the fund fee. For perception factor, the information source that investors considered as the effective for investment decision are prospectus and online media. The different age, status, education, and monthly income resulted in level of importance for factors affecting the investment decision on foreign equity mutual funds differently with statistical significance.
