Stall Hawker Pattern and Adaptation of Sawan Park in NakhonSawan Municipality

Abstract

This research article aimed (1) to study the operations of the Nakhonsawan Municipality in enforcing the policy on street vendor organizations in Sawan Park, Nakhonsawan Municipality, and (2) to study the patterns and adaptation of street vendors affected by the implementation of the Nakhon Sawan Municipality's policy. The population consisted of 4 municipal officials of Nakhonsawan Municipality and 60 street vendors in Sawan Park, Nakhon Sawan. The sampling method split in half was employed with a specific sampling. Due to inclusion and exclusion criteria, the obtained samples included 2 municipal officials and 30 street vendors. This was qualitative research. The tools for data collection included in-depth interviews with in-depth analysis from key informants. The findings revealed that Nakhonsawan Municipality effectively implemented the policy on street vendor organizations, leading to well-organized orderliness in the area, compared to the period before the policy. Regarding the patterns and adaptation of street vendors affected by the implementation of the policy of Nakhonsawan Municipality, they could adapt according to the strict policy on street vendor organizations regardless of further problems in the area. Therefore, street vendors and officials could coexist in peace.
