Participation of The Community in Developing A Local Artisanal Fishery Tourism Destination

Abstract

This research article aimed (1) to study the community environment in the development as a tourist attraction for the local fishing community; and (2) to create guidelines for community participation in the development as a tourist attraction for the local fishing community. This research is qualitative. The data collection tool is a group discussion form 10 keys informants who are members of Ban Hua Laem community, Moo 7, Sanam Chai Subdistrict, Na Yai Am District, Chanthaburi Province. The results of the study showed that the creation of guidelines for community participation should involve relevant parties, such as local administrations or related agencies. The components of the guidelines are: The community must prepare local knowledge and wisdom to transfer to community members. Cultural capital, social capital and various resources in the community should be used to drive tourism of the local fishing community, including setting guidelines or rules to be the requirements or rules of the community. Communities should establish markets as a precise source for the sale of goods. Enterprises or housewives should be gathered to bring raw materials that can be obtained in the community to be processed to diversify the products. Public relations should be promoted in collaboration with government agencies or the private sector to promote various forms of public relations through various channels.
