Abstract

The objective of this research is to focus on studying and reviewing the scope of research related to the political philosophy of Taoist philosophy concerning anarchism. We aim to identify gaps in the existing research, including research questions on the political philosophy of Daoist anarchism that should be pursued in the future. We utilize a research method known as a Scoping Review, following the framework developed by Hilary Arksey and Lisa O'Malley (2005). The five-step framework serves as a guide for conducting and analyzing data in this research. The review encompasses the period from 1983 to 2023. The research findings indicate that there have been 12 studies on the topic of anarchism and Taoist philosophy. The most extensively studied aspect is the use of Western philosophical principles in political philosophy to support the notion that Taoist philosophy is anarchistic. Furthermore, all of these studies employ an analytic philosophy approach. However, this research reveals that the understanding of anarchism in Taoist philosophy has not been conclusively established. Therefore, the researcher suggests conducting a phenomenological study of Taoist philosophy, followed by an analytic philosophical approach, to further advance philosophical research on Taoist anarchism in a more comprehensive manner.
