Results of Applying Social Work Process to Enhance Self-Management Skills of Social Work Learners

Abstract

This research study is a classroom research study on “Effects of implementing social work processes to enhance self-management skills of social work students”. This study is a qualitative research, using in-depth interviews as a data collection tool. The purpose of this study was to study the results of applying social work processes to enhance self-management skills of social work learners. And to analyze self-management skills using social work processes of students. As well as to study the results of reflection by using the social work process of students. The main issues in the study consisted of 3 issues: 1) social work knowledge necessary for learners; 2) application of social work processes to enhance self-management skills of learners; 3) reflection results, by using the social work process of students. The results of the research presented in this study consisted of 3 main issues: 1) the necessary social work knowledge of social work learners; 2) The application of social work process to enhance self-management skills of social work learners. 3) The results of reflection by using the social work process of students in the introductory social work course showed that learners were able to reflect on their own problems and to deal with problems appropriately. In this research study the researcher as an instructor has developed two important new bodies of knowledge as follows. First, learners can harmoniously integrate their knowledge in social work science and political science and learners apply social work knowledge to themselves in dealing with social problems as well as with close people, secondly, linking religious principles to self-management. This is the application of religious doctrine to social work knowledge in understanding oneself and understanding society and integrating it with religious beliefs in life.
