School Administration for Developing the Innovativeness of Teachers in Demonstration Schools

The purposes of this research are to study 1) the current condition of school administration for developing the innovativeness of teachers in demonstration schools; 2) the problems and obstacles of school administration for developing the innovativeness of teachers in demonstration schools and; 3) the success factors of school administration for developing the innovativeness of teachers in demonstration schools. This research is qualitative research. The data was gathered from 10 informants form 5 demonstration schools those are 5 principals and 5 heads of learning departments. The research tool is semi-structured interview guidelines about school administration for developing the innovativeness of teachers. The data analysis was conducted by content analysis. The research findings revealed that 1) the current condition of school administration for developing the innovativeness of teachers in demonstration schools was characterized by the establishment of strategies and goals for innovativeness development allowing a schoolwide participation of teachers; the development of teacher competencies through diverse approaches; the provision of essential resources along with support for teachers in developing innovations; the creation of a school climate and organizational culture enhancing teachers to develop themselves continuously; the use of academic performance evaluation and quality assurance systems to monitor and assess the development of teacher innovativeness; and the management of school collaboration networks; 2) the problems and obstacles in school administration to develop the innovativeness of teachers in demonstration schools comprise 3 aspects: teachers accounted for heavy workloads caused they were unable to manage time for self-development; the lack of space and time for teachers’ knowledge sharing; and changes in organizational culture resulted from shifts in teachers’ behaviour; and 3) the success factors of school administration for developing teacher innovativeness comprise 4 key aspects: administrators’ leadership; clear innovation-related visions and goals; supporting of teachers’ self-development based on their individual needs; and school climate and organizational culture conducive to innovation creation.
