This research article aimed to develop prototype packaging for faith-based cultural products derived from Madhupayasa rice. The study employed a qualitative descriptive research approach with participatory design in the community of Wat Srisomboon, Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Data were collected through interviews with key informants and purposively selected target groups, including amulet association members, academics, community leaders, youth leaders, and religious leaders, totaling 20 participants (including monks and laypersons). The collected data were processed and analyzed through thematic linkage and synthesized to create four prototype packaging designs for cultural products. The findings revealed that the target group selected Prototype Design No. 2 as the most appropriate model. This design was developed under the principles of “appropriateness, respect, and meaning,” emphasizing a holistic understanding of the cultural context. The design integrated four essential dimensions: physical protection for safety and practical use, symbolic communication to convey cultural and spiritual values, reflection of local identity to affirm community roots, and enhancement of psychological and spiritual value to strengthen faith and reverence. When elements such as color, patterns, form, and materials were intentionally arranged, they collectively formed a design language that functioned as a “faith-based cultural medium,” profoundly and elegantly connecting the past, present, and future of the community. The prototype packaging also fostered a shared sense of belonging and collective cultural pride among community members and believers.
