Strategies for Eco-Industrial Town Development in the Hi-Tech Kabin Industrial Estate

Abstract

The aims of the research are to (1) study the current status of eco-industrial town development, (2) analyze internal and external environment data of eco-industrial town development and (3) propose strategies and guidelines for developing eco-industrial town in the area. Hi-Tech Kabin Industrial Estate. This research is qualitative research, data were collected from interviews and focus group meetings with 8 organizations from government agencies, private sectors and populations. Result of the study found that the current status, the physical dimension had adequate and effective resource support. The economic and social dimensions, the industrial estate had financial liquidity. and surrounding communities want to have careers and participate in activities for the public benefit. The environmental dimension had been complied with as required by law and planned to prepare greenhouse gas data. Management dimension, the factory had international standard certification. Internal factors within the industrial estate, there was good management but not enough personnel. The external environment, the government sector supports the sustainable development of industrial estates, resulting in 10 strategies and 13 approaches to development into an eco-industrial town, such as creating cooperation in environmental laws, promoting communities to have careers, able to develop to deal with various situations, reducing costs by using the 3R principle (reuse, reduce, recycle) and organizing future stakeholder meetings.
