Abstract

The teaching of Islam commands Muslim to establish an effective of zakat management. Islamic civilization shows that many efforts and initiatives have been implemented to ensure zakat management is at an excellent level in order to ensure that its implementation affects the socio-economic development of the Muslim community throughout history. For Muslim community in Thailand, zakat management is at moderate level and unsystematic. At the same time, awareness of zakat accountability among Muslims in Bangkok Thailand is still low. This study analyzes the achievements of Collection and Distribution faced by three zakat management institutions in Bangkok today namely the Bangkok Islamic Religious Council, Bangkok Islamic Center Foundation and Santichon Bangkok Islamic Foundation. These three institutions serve as a platform in fulfilling the obligation of zakat by the community in Bangkok. This study uses qualitative research designs based on inductively and deductively document analysis methods. The results show that zakat management institutions in Bangkok have existed and played a role in the process of collecting and distributing zakat to the needy. However, the achievement of zakat management in the three zakat management institutions is at a moderate level. The implications of the study provide exposure to the achievements of zakat management in Bangkok today as well as future improvements.
