“Moon” for Small Ensemble

Abstract

“Moon” is an original composition for small ensemble inspired by Impressionist music and twentieth-century composition techniques. The purpose of this Independent Study is to write a neo tonal composition with descriptive analysis. The structure of the composition is    A B C A’ with emphasis on motive development, ostinato, dissonant interval, extended chord, polymeter, unconventional chord progression, and melodic line over parallel motion harmony (which is a distinctive feature of impressionist music).
