An Arrangement Analysis of Dan Haerle’s “Blusineff”
Abstract
There are the theory and techniques for Jazz Arranging, especially writing for big band which includes sections of saxophone, trumpet, trombone and rhythm. The elements of jazz composition are; harmony, voicings, melodic and harmonic rhythmic, counterpoint, instrumentation and orchestration, arrangement form as well as solo improvisation. An arrangement analysis of Blusineff, composed by Professor Dan Haerle who is an admirable musician, composer and educator with so many works and teaching experiences in jazz music, particularly in one of the best jazz school likes University of North Texas, USA., will be another method to study a jazz arranging for applying the jazz writing techniques to other compositions.
