Abstract

This research aims to present methods of tragicomedy delivery based on practice-led research on the researcher’s role as an actor in a theater performance, Kan Ma Yuean Khong Ying Cha-ra. The results show three main findings. 1) There are two types of tragicomedy delivery methods: from humor to distress, by shifting humorous mood to distress due to the bitter fate of the character, and from distress to humor, by hopelessly laughing at the uncontrolled situation where the character cannot do anything but to bitterly laugh 2) Tragicomedy is delivered through designing peculiar characters to reflect the comical dark side of humanness 3) The actor embodied the character’s sense of humor as well as strived to understand the cycle of acting-reacting in order to lead the audience to feel the sense of humor in tragicomedy style.
