Abstract

          Buddhism was main institution in society that was responsible for development of person in both physical and mental aspect. In the normal situation, Buddhism protected the country with happiness, and harmony, understanding each other, because life of humanity cannot live with material alone, therefore, when there was agitation, the leader created 12 National Core Values as follows: One: love Nation, Religion and Monarch, Two: be honest, self-sacrificing and resilient, Three: have utmost gratitude towards parents, Four: be determined and persistent in studies, Five: uphold national culture, Six: sustain moral standards, religion, Seven: learn and know about the sovereignty of the people, Nine: act in accordance with His Majesty’s words, Ten: live with sufficiency; be able to sustain oneself, Eleven: be gaudy in both body and mind, Twelve: put first the common good. These values were available in Buddhism. Therefore, Buddhism and core values of Thai aimed to make people to have loving kindness, sacrifice, gratitude to benefactor, to interest in study, to preserve Thai tradition, sincerity,  to understand the principle of democracy, discipline, to respect the elder, to have mindfulness and comprehension, to live with principle of sufficiency, not to give oneself to evil power, and the last to give importance  to public interest rather than self-interest, therefore, he was called who practiced the principle of Buddhism and National 12 Core Values.
