Abstract

          The purpose of this research were 1) to study the history and background in Khampha tradition of Thaipourn community, Thonghoung Village, Muang District, Phrae Provence, 2) to study belief and Buddhist principle appeared in Khampha tradition of Thaipourn community, Thonghoung Village, Muang District, Phrae Provence, and 3) to study an application of belief and Buddhist principle appeared in Khampha tradition of Thaipourn community, Thonghoung Village, Muang District, Phrae Provence. This research is a qualitative research. The study was carried out in form of documentary research and using the in-depth interview from 8 number of Thaipourn community, Thonghoung Village, Muang District, Phrae Provence.

          The results of the research revealed that:

          Khampha tradition of Thaipourn community, Thonghoung Village, Muang District, Phrae Provence is important for lifestyle and had a long history. In the age of King Chompu, Muang Pourn is a tributary of Muang Luang Prabang. Muang Pourn defeated Muang Luang Prabang and King Chompu declared independence. After that, King Non of Vientiane to order captains named Khiew to battle against King Chompu and triumphantly. King Chompu had ordered executions. At that time, the lightining put down on the killer’s spear and breaking. King Chompu returns to Muang Pourn. Pourn people practice Khampha ritual was keeping precept but they have to do good leave bad, respect to an ancestor to protection and wishing to be good life and they still believe that it’ll give richness.Khampha tradition of Thaipourn community, thounghoung village related to life style that was individual identity. Khampa tradition reflective to belief and Buddhist ethic that most of people had practice for long time that was the grateful, harmony because these were the basic of life that created strength community, be good basic life and also be role model community of present.
