A Promoting of the Well-being and Social Networks of Buddhist Integrated for Liquor and Smoking Reduction in Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

         The objectives of this research article were 1) to study of situation of drinking and smoking in Khon Kaen province, 2) to promote the reduction and cessation of liquor drinking, smoking in Khon Kaen province, 3) to evaluate the activities that promote the reduction and cessation of drinking and smoking in Khon Kaen province. The population used in the research was monks, and government officials around 32 persons. The instrument was an interview form and the forms of focus group discussion and observation which were used for data analysis.

          The results of the research;

          1) The situation of drinking and smoking in Khon Kaen province has decreased. There are many reason as; there is a place where people can sign their names, declare to abstain from lent by reducing or stop drinking to complete the rainy season or at the provincial town hall and the provincial public health office. In addition, Mahachulalongkorn -rajavidyalaya University Khon Kaen Campus, Khon Kaen Provincial Buddhism Office, Khon Kaen Cultural Office, the center for resolving the problem of alcohol consumption, and the office network organization abstaining from liquor in the northeast has been working to reduce drinking, namely organizing the project “Cross-year Prayers”, “Model Community Training in Alcohol Abatement” and “Activity Management at Khao Niao Road during Songkran Festival” can actually reduce drinking statistics.

          2) Promoting the reduction, abstinence from drinking, smoking, conducted 6 activities which are (1) Cross-year Prayer Press Conference. (2) Memorandum of Academic Cooperation and Research. (3) Cross-Prayer Event Year 2019. (4) Youth Event Clear away from cigarettes and alcohol. (5) Campaigning against drugs. (6) Training "Model communities to reduce and stop drinking alcohol".

          3) Evaluation results of activities that promote reduction, stop drinking, smoking in Khon Kaen Province. In general, the activities are suitable at a high level.
