The Development of English Vocabulary Learning Materials for Non-Major Teachers to Enhance the English Learning Achievement: A Case Study of Pratomsuksa 4-6 Students at Rimkhongwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

             The purposes of this research were: 1) to develop English vocabulary learning media for non - major teachers to improve the English language learning outcomes of students in grades 4-6 at Rimkhongwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province 2) to develop a teaching handbook for English vocabulary for non-major teachers in the case of studying students in grades 4-6 at Rimkhongwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province and 3) to study the opinions and satisfaction of non-major teachers  towards the English vocabulary learning media for students in grades 4-6 at Rimkhongwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province. This research was a case study with a sample population consisting of 14 teachers from Rimkhongwittaya School, selected through purposive sampling. The instruments included English vocabulary learning media, an assessment form to evaluate the quality of the learning media, a questionnaire to gather the opinions and satisfaction of teachers towards the learning media, and pre- and post-learning tests. The statistical analyses used to analyze the data were mean and standard deviation.
             The research results found that:
             1. The results of the pre- and post-learning tests on the use of English vocabulary learning media for students in grades 4-6 at Rimkhongwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province, showed significant improvement. The average score before learning was 8.86, and the average score after learning was 14.46.
             2. The evaluation of the quality of the teaching handbook for non - major teachers studying students in grades 4-6 at Rimkhongwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province, yielded an overall congruence index of 0.91, indicating good congruence with the evaluation criteria.
             3. The average overall satisfaction and opinion of non - major teachers towards the English vocabulary learning media for students in grades 4-6 at Rimkhonwittaya School, Chiang Rai Province, was 4.27 which is at a good level.
