Abstract

          The book " Kathina in Accordance with the Tipittaka Commentaries and Dika (Sub-commentaries)" written by Phra Mahamonkol Wachiro, aims to address the behaviors of Buddhists, both monks and laypeople, who misunderstand the concept of Kathina according to the monastic code. It seeks to provide accurate understanding by presenting content that includes the origins of the Kathina tradition, the benefits of establishing Kathina, its meaning, the significance of Kathina robes, types of fabric, colors of fabric, and the characteristics of robes that can be used for Kathina. It also outlines fabrics that are not suitable for Kathina, important individuals involved in the Kathina ceremony, their roles—from those offering the robes, to the recipients, to the officiating monk— and the sequence of rituals that constitute the Sanghakamma, including the robe offering ceremony, the recitation for Kathina robes, and the officiating ceremony. The duties of the monk officiating the Kathina, the success of the Kathina, factors leading to its failure, and the merits of Kathina are discussed in order. The presentation is concise and clear, in line with the teachings of the Tipitaka, Commentaries, and Sub-commentaries, and serves as a guide for proper practice in accordance with the rightful Buddhist tradition.
