The Development of Learning Activity Packages to Promote Emocratic Citizenship Characteristics for Undergraduate Students of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University

Abstract

             The purposes of this research were: 1) to study of the problems and needs in organizing learning to promote democratic citizenship characteristics for undergraduate students at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, 2) to Develop a learning activity package to promote democratic citizenship characteristics for undergraduate students at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, 3) to experimental use of learning management activity packages to promote democratic citizenship characteristics for undergraduate students at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, and 4) to evaluate and present a learning activity package to promote democratic citizenship characteristics for undergraduate students at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) process, comprising: (1) quantitative research through a survey of 280 undergraduate students at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. (2) qualitative research through in-depth interviews with eight experts; and (3) experimental research by implementing the learning management activities via Google Classroom with a group of 15 undergraduate students. The research instrument was the developed learning activity set. The statistics used for data analysis included percentage, mean, standard deviation, standard error, t-test, and content analysis.
             The findings revealed that:
             1. The overall condition and needs for learning management to promote democratic citizenship were at a very high level (= 4.54, S.D. = 0.64).
             2. The development and trial of the learning management activity set met the efficiency criteria, with an E1/E2 score of 82.00/82.89. Post-test scores of knowledge and understanding were significantly higher than pre-test scores at the .05 level.
             3. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the learning management for promoting democratic citizenship, based on students’ opinions across four aspects, indicated that the overall opinions were at the highest level (= 4.71, S.D. = 0.34).
