The Asia Research Institute (ARI) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications from current PhD students and new PhD recipients (awarded in 2022 or after) to participate in the 19th Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies. This forum is specifically focused on humanities and social science research relating to Southeast Asia, defined as ASEAN member countries plus East Timor.

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to engage in activities with ARI’s research clusters prior to the commencement of the Forum. The Forum will be in hybrid format, comprising of (1) a two-week virtual fellowship of skills-based sessions covering academic writing, presentation skills and publication strategies; culminating in (2) an in-person graduate student conference, the 19th Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies, where participants present their papers.

  4. Opportunity to present your research paper at the Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies to an audience of young international scholars and senior Southeast Asia specialists
  5. Accommodation in NUS for six nights during the second week of the Forum (24-28 June 2024)


CALL FOR APPLICATIONS HAS ENDED

Successful applicants will be notified by mid March 2024, and they are expected to submit a draft of their papers by 30 April 2024. This paper will be shared with the relevant research cluster(s) in preparation for their interactions with the participants. Subsequently, participants are required to send in a full-length paper (4,000-5,000 words) by 31 May 2024, and make a presentation of their work at the 19th Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies on 24-28 June 2024.
