Preventive Measures for Victims of Hijacked Academic Journal Websites

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to review the situation of hijacked academic journals’ websites, to identify the effects of this crime, and to propose preventive measures. Research methodologies were documentary research and in-depth interviews.
The findings of this research provide a body of knowledge about hijacked academic journal’s websites, the effects of this crime on research article’s authors and the academic world, and preventives measures for victims of this crime and the stakeholders.
