ECHOES FROM THE NORTHERN AREAS OF LAMPHUN AND CHIANG MAI PROVINCES: ON STRONG SANGHA ADMINISTRATION
Abstract
This article aimed to study the spatial context in the Northern region of Chiang Mai and Lamphun by studying the concepts, systems and mechanisms that supported strong Sangha Affairs administration, studied from document, research work, interviews, observations at the researched area. Findings were presented in the written academic essay format.
The results of the study revealed that both provinces had physical, geographical, and religious characteristics in the Northern provinces with similar problems. The management approach was to use Dhamma-Vinaya, the disciplines and laws when there were legal disputes. The solution was subjective depending on the property power of those in the disputes. There was a proposal to establish the provincial legal studies institute to study the rules and laws and to solve any legal settings that were the problems of Sangha Administration. There should be an operating platform for administration and expanding connecting networks. Administrative monks agreed to this platform and supported the concept for practical platform and proposed top-down driving policy to materialize the holistic benefits for Buddhist Affairs Administration according to the studied framework.
